The bent wire guide is positioned directly above the thread cone on the left rear handle. It directs the thread to the center 3-hole thread guide and provides a smooth transition from the cone to the tension assembly. APQS machines with on-board bobbin winders and some other models may have this thread guide positioned above the right rear handle in addition to the left rear handle.
